Phyllis “Jane” Weeks peacefully entered God’s eternal garden on Saturday, February 24. She was born in Wilbur, Washington on December 5, 1929, graduated from Creston High School, and then Eastern Washington State Teachers College. One of the greatest treasures she offered this world during her 94 years was steady and unwavering presence in the lives of her grandchildren, and then her great grandchildren. Jane was also a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, lifetime friend to many, and teacher. As a testament to her impact on others, after retirement from teaching, she would often cross paths with successful young adults who she had a role in teaching to read. As a member of the Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene, Jane served on the Compassionate Care Team for decades over which time she wrote hundreds of notes of comfort to those inside and outside the Church who were grieving. She also volunteered for more than two decades at the Ronald McDonald House in Spokane, keeping the residence clean, baking cookies for the families, and being a listening ear to many who were in need. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Phyllis and Clayton Duvall, her brothers and sisters, Margaret, Lorraine, Richard, and Dale, her husband, Al Weeks, who passed in 1984, and then a long time beau, Archie Wycoff. She is survived by her brother and sister, Elva Duvall and Betty Hilderbrand, her daughter and son, Susan Pike-Wilson and Douglas Weeks, grandchildren Joshua Page, Erika Miller, Britta Ekstedt, Alexandra Kemp, and great grandchildren Christian, Kaeden, Luke, River, Corrie, and Hazel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jane’s honor to Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene Care Team Ministry, or to any other ministry of your choice, www.svnc.org.
A Celebration of Life will be live streamed on Saturday, March 30 at 10:00am Pacific Time on Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene’s Facebook page.
