Rick was born on March 23, 1944, to William and Evelyn Heineck in Spokane WA. Rick was very active in the Boy Scout program in his youth, making lifelong friends. He graduated from Lewis and Clark High school in 1963. Rick then enlisted in the Army National Guard. He entered Spokane Technical and Vocational School and enrolled in a welding and metal program. Two years later he had his certificate from what had changed to Spokane Community College. He worked for a while with Sturm Heating. At the encouragement from his father-in-law, he applied for a job with Kaiser Aluminum, surviving one layoff, and one strike he stayed with Kaiser for over 35 years.
On May 5, 1967 he joined his life with Sherry Kay Perkins. Both Rick and Sherry were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They were in a part of the Moran Prairie Ward for over 20 years. Rick would pass out candy after church to the children of the ward. The family would go on camping trips every year. They were able to go on 10 week vacations, twice where they traveled to every state in the lower 48 states, then later to Alaska and Hawaii. After they retired they would go on cruises. Rick took great pride in his garden and the yard. He would help every year with the canning and freezing of his vegetables to help the family. He was very active in temple work every Tuesday by clockwork you could find them there. Rick was also an avid fisherman and hunter.
