Richard Dean Ingalls

September 22, 1926 - April 7, 2015

(Age 88)

Dick Ingalls was born and raised in Spokane, WA. His parents were both early residents of the Spokane Valley and he lived most of his life here as well. He graduated from Central Valley High School in 1945 where he met his sweetheart and future wife, Carol Faye Johnston. After a few years as an enlisted member of the Army Signal Corps during WWII (one of the first occupational forces in Japan) he returned home to Spokane and in 1947 married the love of his life. Dick spent the next forty years working in construction (with about twenty of those as the owner of his own company), and helping to raise a family of six children. He loved fishing, hunting, and exploring the vast mountains of Eastern WA, Idaho, and Montana. For about seventeen years, he and Carol owned and operated a hunting and fishing lodge on the St. Joe river. This is where family and friends also came to stay to enjoy the beautiful scenery and where many happy family gatherings took place. Dick always loved family get-togethers for all kinds of reasons and especially to see how all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were doing. He is survived by Carol Ingalls, his wife of 68 years, by his daughters Kathy Hamilton-Cantrell (Fred), Bonnie Ingalls, Sue Hatch (Rand), by his sons, Ken Ingalls (Jackie), and Casey Ingalls (Brenda), by his grandchildren – Shawna, Heather, Melissa, Carrie-Anne, Kendra, Alycia, Joey, Christopher, Cyndi-Jo, Charmaine, Cassandra, Carol-Anne, Samantha, Brian, Terra and Bonnie Jean plus eighteen great grandchildren. His daughter, Lorenda Stafford, preceded him in death as well as his sister Shirley Dobson and brother, Melvin Ingalls. A memorial for Dick (celebration of his life) will be held in the summertime.
