Ron was born June 6, 1945, in Spokane, Washington to Lucille and Noble Pierce. He graduated from John R. Rogers High School in 1963 where he played football all four years. He often blamed his many lifelong injuries on playing football in high school. Knowing all too well that he would be drafted for the Vietnam war Ron proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force in March of 1964 and served as a crew chief aboard a C-130 Hercules aircraft based in Taiwan which rotated every few weeks to Cam Ranh Bay in Vietnam.
After being released from USAF active duty in February of 1968 Ron began working at EZ Loader and in February 1969 he married Nancy Ann Taylor. They were married 52 years until her passing in March 2021. Nancy brought one daughter to the marriage, Tamara Ann Davey, and Ron and Nancy had two more children, Dean Thomas Pierce, and Christopher Brian Pierce.
Ron worked very hard to support his family of five and continuously looked for good employment to do so. Ron eventually acquired employment with Boeing and belonged to the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Union Local 86. Ron worked very hard and was able to retire comfortably at the age of 65 years.
Ron enjoyed day road trips, camping, hunting, fishing, golfing, and boating. Tamara, Dean and Chris have fond childhood memories of the family day trips which were usually to mountains, lakes, and rivers. Ron often hunted and fished with his dad and brothers and apparently there were a lot of mischievous going on with those boys but at times they did harvest an animal. In later years, Ron and Nancy enjoyed camping in their RV and boating with their grown kids and grandchildren.
Ron took a lot of pride in his home and possessions. His vehicles, tools and equipment were kept in pristine condition. Ron was very particular with his yard, and it was one of the most upkept in the neighborhood. Ron’s garage was also in immaculate condition and if you borrowed a tool, you learned very quickly that it needed to be replaced exactly as it was stored.
Ron was a very strong man, and his strength was very apparent until his last breath. Ron is preceded in death by his wife Nancy, father Noble Pierce and sister Sandy Munn. He is survived by his mother, brothers Terry Pierce and Tracy Pierce, his three children, 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Ron will be forever missed; however, the family is grateful for the time they had with him and to know now he is reunited with his loving wife, Nancy.
There will be a veteran's memorial service with military honors at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 W. Espanola Road, Medical Lake, WA 99022, on November 18, 2021, at 2:30 pm. A celebration of life is scheduled June 4, 2022, with time and place to be announced at a later date.
