

They moved to Lewisburg, PA to be closer to her mother's family. Then they moved around and lived in many states before finally settling in Spokane, WA. She was raised by her mother and stepfather David Melville.
At a New Years eve party on 12/31/1952 she met the love of her life John E. Wells. They were married on Aug. 8, 1953. They were happily married for over 54 years, until his passing in December 2007.
Ruth was a stay-at-home mom until John purchased a service station and she helped run it for 11 years. She also worked for the US Census helping do the census of the population in the Spokane area for US Government.
She was an active member of Eagles Auxiliary #2 for over 40 years. She also was involved with the Retired Eagles Active Club (REAC) both locally and in the State of Washington. She served as Secretary for the local REAC club and the State REAC club.
She loved to sew, read, do needlepoint and go camping. She also loved to travel around with her daughter Sheryl when she was a Washington State Chairwoman for several different charities through the years.
In 2022 she was diagnosed with Dementia/Alzheimers. We moved her to Brookdale in North Spokane in May of 2022. She was treated with respect and loving care until she passed.
Ruth is survived by her daughters Sheryl Wells and Vicki and her husband Rodger Chinn. Her brothers Ed Melville, Steve and his wife Beth, Mike and his wife Barb, and her sister Kaylynn Howard. She is also survived by numerous nieces; nephews; great & great-great nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
Preceded in death were her husband, John; oldest daughter Janice who passed in December 1974; her parents; her brother-in-laws and sister-in law on her husband's side of the family.
A Celebration Of Life will be held on May 17, 2025, at the Eagles Lodge at 6410 N. Lidgerwood from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's research in her name. The cremation is done and there will be a private burial of her ashes later for family members.
