Jinny Avery was born July 9, 1928 to Arista and Theodore Balke in White Hall, MT and raised in Belgrade, MT. She graduated in 1946 from Belgrade High School. She married Bob Avery on June 4, 1949. They moved to Spokane as newlyweds and Mom resided in Spokane the rest of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jim Balke in Belgrade, MT. Jinny is survived by her sister, Evelyn Ananias of Puyallup, WA; four children, Shelley Loy of Coeur d’Alene, ID, Mitch Avery of Rathdrum, ID, Candy Taylor and Brian Avery of Spokane, WA; seven grandchildren, Rhonda, Dustin, Ryan, Lacey, Ashley, Wyatt and Trapper; eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Jinny loved her work as a checker and looked forward to seeing her customers daily for 20 years at Rosauers and retired in 1992. After retirement, she was able to really delve into the things she loved. She always looked forward to trying something new. She traveled on many tours with her friends and lived for dancing, as well as, digging in her beautiful garden and yard. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading and crafts. She loved sharing with everyone the crafts she made. Services will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 2:00pm at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Road, Spokane Valley, WA. Donations can be made in Jinny’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 North Michigan Ave Suite 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
