Born in Big Sandy, Montana on April 1,1931, Betty was the second of eight children of Dorothy Mary Emaline (Johnson) and Roy Alvin Wilson.
Betty married James D. McIntosh of Havre, MT in 1949, and together they had sons Larry and Terry McIntosh. James passed away at age 40, in 1966, in Dutton, MT, leaving her to raise her sons.
She moved to Oregon, and then later, Spokane, where she met and married Edwin C. Ost, who passed away in 1996. Betty retired from a long career at Columbia Lighting. She was an avid reader and loved the shinier things in life. Betty was an active member of The Order of the Eastern Star and loved gardening and travelling.
Betty is survived by sister Rose Brown, son Larry McIntosh with wife Christy, grandson Scott with wife Nicole; and his children Samantha and Jordan, as well as granddaughter Hilary Stevener, with her husband Charlie, and their children Alice, and Jake. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and those who loved her, and cared for her at Alderwood Manor, and especially her daughter-in-laws Denise Smith and Deborah Ost, and the Zschoche Family.
She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Losson and Sarah Jane “Jennie” (Southerland) Johnson, mother Dorothy Mary Emaline Johnson, paternal grandparents Britton “Brit” and Emma (Bush) Wilson, father Roy Alvin Wilson, brothers Marvin “Butch” " Red", Alvin “Bud”, Kenneth, and Ernest “Tiny” Wilson, sisters Lillian “Lillie” (Wilson) Howard, and Eva (Wilson) Callahan, and son Terry Lee McIntosh.
A visitation will be held at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home, located at 5100 W Wellesley Ave, Spokane, WA 99205, on Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by a funeral service. A committal service will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park, at 5200 W Wellesley Ave, Spokane WA, 99205, United States. The burial is scheduled for January 15, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
