

Carl E. Nygaard, age 88, passed away September 14, 2010 in Spokane, WA. Carl was born on January 30, 1922 in Parkbeg, Saskatchewan, Canada. Soon after his family moved to Spokane, WA and he attended Roger’s High School, graduating in 1940. He worked for a short time at Industrial Electric Service before he was able to enlist in the US Army during WWII. Upon his return he began working at Industrial Electric Service, as an electrician. In the early 1970’s he purchased the firm. Health forced his retirement in 2001. Carl married Helen Heyer on July 9, 1949 raising 10 children in Spokane. Carl loved electronics, the great outdoors, skiing, camping, fishing and hunting. He was a kind, patient, gentle, and loving husband, father, and grandfather who put his family first in everything he did. In 1957 he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, was very active and served in many capacities throughout the years. Carl is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen Nygaard; children, Stanley Nygaard, Brenda Burch, Christie Nygaard, Scott Nygaard, Katrina Anderson, Wendy Truman, Adrian Nygaard, Stephen Nygaard, and Richard Nygaard; 40 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Janie Gail and two brothers, Carl Oliver Nygaard and Reynold Nygaard. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am, to 8:00 pm on Friday, September 17, 2010 at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home 1306 N. Monroe. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 2112 W. Francis. Graveside services will follow at the Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery. Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home 1306 N. Monroe in charge of arrangements.
