Born on October 18, 1950, he went home to heaven where his mother and father were excitedly waiting for him. David was born in California. At the age of 5 years old he contracted the measles, when rushed to the hospital with seizures and a high fever they diagnosed Meningitis, thankfully he was a fighter and he made it out a few weeks later, but the disease left him paralyzed for life. His strength of will did not stop there. David always came out positive and optimistic after multiple corrective surgeries. As he grew up one of his favorite pastimes became music, he took guitar lessons and he and his sister would start having jam sessions. He and his sister frequently recollected those early sessions with very fond memories. It was his strength of will and loving family that helped him get his Electrical Engineering degree and then start a many decade position with HP. Midway through his career his sister and her husband and two daughters moved up to Washington. Where the Harper parents and David quickly followed, placing a home within less than a mile of his sister. They were a close family spending all holidays together. His nieces frequented visiting them on the weekends while growing up. David would bring out his banjo, his sister on guitar with his dad on drums and we would get our very own concert. The family loved watching them jam and we all still have very fond memories of those sessions. Music was a passion for David and his family. David also grew his love for electronics as a hobby in Ham Radio which he continued until the day he was hospitalized. David resided in his Washington home that he loved in the country for 42 years. Loved by not only his close family but also his neighbors and his Ham Radio friends, he will be extremely missed and fondly remembered. David is survived by his sister, and his two nieces Christina (Jed) and Kimberly (Ray) and two great nephews Adam and Tristan and two great nieces Merey and Lydia.
A celebration of life service honoring David will take place later this spring.
