Donald Earl Whitman

Age 86

Donald died in Spokane, Washington on May 26, 2014. Don was born in Rosalia, Washington and was the middle of 10 children. At 15yrs old Don left the farm and moved to Spokane where he graduated from Lewis and Clark High School before joining the Army at 18yrs of age. While in the Army, Don served two tours in the Korean War ultimately attaining the rank of Sergeant. After serving for 8 years Don returned home to Spokane where he made a career as a grocer where he worked until retiring at age 82. In 1950 Don met and married Dorothy, and they had two daughters and were married for 57 years until Dorothy’s passing 6 years ago. Don is preceded in death by his parents and all of his 10 siblings, his wife Dorothy, and daughter Bonnie. Don is survived by his daughter Donna, 4 Grandchildren, Kevin, Amy, Jeff, and Shannon and 9 Great Grandchildren, Brenden, Hanna, Kennedy, Josh, Justin, Jacob, Kellan, Crew, and Boston. He will be deeply missed. Memorial Services will be held on June 12, 2014 at 2pm at the Ball and Dodd Funeral Home at 5100 W. Wellesley in Spokane. Please come and share your memories of Don.
