Doris Mize, 92, of Spokane, Washington passed away on August 9, 2022. Doris was born on May 30, 1930, in Spokane, Washington to Ole and Gertrude Oiland. She graduated from Mead High School in 1947. Doris' first job was at John W. Graham and Company. Years later, Doris would complete two years of college at Whitworth College followed by a career in the Registrar's Office at Whitworth College.
In 1949, Doris married the love of her life, Lester Jean Mize, and the couple had four children. Doris and Jean were active members of Whitworth Presbyterian Church for many years.
Doris enjoyed spending time helping her oldest son Steve with craft shows, watching her grandchildren play a variety of sports, and family get-togethers. She will always be remembered for her generosity, love of family, and unwavering faith.
Doris is survived by son Steve of Spokane, WA; son Ron (Mary Beth) of Ashland, OR; daughter Sandy Whitehill (Greg) of Deer Park, WA; daughter Bonnie Kandoll (John) of Ridgefield, WA; 10 grandchildren: Alena, Crystal, Steven, Josh, Amanda, Travis, Scott, Jeff, Gavin, and Berwyn; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Lester Jean Mize; granddaughter Megan Whitehill; sister Gladys Lenke; and sister Audrey Forkner.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Tuesday, August 23rd from 2:00-4:00 pm, at Ballard Meadows 38 W. Ballard Rd, Colbert, WA. All are welcome to attend.
The family would like to thank North Central Care Center in Spokane for the care and love that they showed Doris during her time there.
