Passed away peacefully at her home on July 17, 2011. She was born May 1, 1916 in Lone Wolf, OK to Hulon and Florence Swofford. Dorothy married Clarence Wendt in 1932 and they were blessed with one son, Donald. Dorothy lived in Vancouver, WA from 1944 until 2001 when she moved to Spokane to be closer to family.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lucille Wendt; three grandchildren, Debbie Beal, Chuck (Vicki) Wendt, Brian Wendt; seven great grandchildren, Brooke (Brian) Walters, Brandy Beal, Blair Wendt, Tayler Wendt, Shelby Wendt, Ricky Beal, Kendal Wendt; and her sister, Oma Mustain. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence and her son, Donald; as well as her parents and seven siblings.
Grandma enjoyed her happiest moments while living in Spokane where she could attend family gatherings, great grandchildren’s graduations, sporting events and even a wedding.
A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 708 East Lake Street, Medical Lake, WA. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, July 22 at St. Anne. Dorothy will then be interred with her husband at 11:00 am on Monday, July 25 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver, WA. The family wishes to thank Dr. Kerkering, Chris, and the staff of Visiting Nurses Association who all provided great care for Grandma.
