Elsie was known for the baby quilts and prayer shawls she made and donated to Pilgrim Lutheran Church, where she was a 60 year member. She was a talented cake decorator. She baked and decorated many wedding cakes that she delivered, displayed, and served over the years. She loved to dance and looked forward to the weekends when she could go dancing at community events. Elsie spent the last 14 years of her life living at Lilac Plaza Retirement Community in Spokane.
Elsie is survived by her children Carla (Geoy) Hayashi and Darrell (Marilyn) Schwartz; as well as six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held Friday, June 20, 2014 from 3-5pm at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home and again Saturday from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. Burial will take place at Fairmount Memorial Park, and a memorial service will be held Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 3:30pm at Pilgrim Lutheran Church 2733 W. Northwest Blvd, Spokane, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Elsie’s honor to the church.
