In the loving presence of family and friends, Eunice Geneva Lynch (Woods) peacefully went to be with her loved ones in Heaven, on March 3, 2013, after a brief stay at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane from complications stemming from pneumonia.
She is survived by her son, Larry Lynch of Coeur d’Alene, ID; daughter, Karen Davis (Woods) of Pasco, WA; grandson, Sidney Brown of Potlatch, ID; two step-daughters, Connie Morrow of Clarkston, WA and Judy Union of Union, WA; nephew, Rob Baker of Clarkston, WA and many step-grandchildren.
She was born on November 5, 1928 in Grenora, ND to Ray and Carrie Woods. They remained there during her early years along with her two brothers-- Clifford and Charles and sisters, Mabel and Lillian. The family moved from Grenora to Wolf Point, MT where Eunice attended school through the 6th grade. From there, the family moved from Great Falls, Montana where she completed her 7th through Freshman years of school. The second oldest sister, Lillian, moved from there to Clarkson, WA, and Eunice and her mother, Carrie followed. It was there where Eunice graduated from Charles Francis Adams High School in 1946.
Upon graduation, she attended a local vocational school where she became proficient in bookkeeping. That education provided her the employment opportunities for many years, beginning at First Security Bank in Lewiston, ID, then for the Lewiston Grange Supply.
She married her best friend, Lawrence Duane Lynch, in 1964 and together, they camped, fished, hunted and share precious times with family and friends, until his passing in 1999. Eunice’s passion for life and family in her younger years is captured in the many photographs, most of which she took and developed herself. She never traveled from home without her trusty camera. The smiles therein depict the happy times had by all. Her devotion of raising both Karen and Larry was evident by the hard work she put in, to provide not just the necessities of life, but the best in everything she could.
A few years after Larry’s birth, she, Duane and Larry moved to Clark Fork, Idaho where Duane had taken a job with Washington Water Power.
Throughout her life, she never met anyone she didn’t befriend. Though quiet in demeanor, her love for family and friends were huge. People that crossed her path were truly blessed just by getting to know her and sit with her, over a cup of coffee at the kitchen table.
Eunice always loved animals, and was never without a cat or dog, or maybe two, to love on. Strays could always could on a good handout should they find themselves at her doorstep, and if need be, nurse them back into the good health she felt theirs to have. She taught this love of animals and life, itself, to both Karen and Larry in their formative years. There was always a window for her to sit at, regardless of where she lived, where she could watch the out-of-doors and the nature that came with the seasons.
In her latter months, she had the wonderful friendships with her caregiver, Renee Dipre, who saw her through those days and nights and with Kerri Williams and her children. Eunice is preceded in death by her parents, husband Duane, and brothers and sisters. All of us who remain will share the bond of the void we will carry until the time we are reunited with her.
Mom, Grandma, we’ve loved you and always will…
