

Jim was born in Spokane to Edward and Fern Dahlem on June 28, 1948. He graduated from West Valley high school, after which he attended Eastern Washington State College, from which he graduated with a degree in history in 1975. During this time, he became a member of the U.S. Army Reserves. Jim had a lifelong passion for music. He worked for National Music Service, a funeral service music provider, for over 50 years. He was an accomplished pianist and organist and a member of the Spokane First Nazarene Theater Organ Society. His talent and enthusiasm for playing these instruments brought much joy to his family, friends, and strangers alike.
Jim is preceded in death by his partner Bryan Jackson, and his first partner Steve Mork.
He is survived by his son Jason Dahlem of Houston, Texas, his daughter-in-law Sharon, Jason’s mother and Jim’s good friend Katherine Warner of Spokane, Washington, as well as friends and neighbors who made him a part of their families.
