Martha Lee (“Micki”) Hale was born on July 18, 1924, to Esther Baldwin and Samuel Allison Hale in Thornton, WA. A farmer’s daughter raised just outside of St. John, WA, she would tell stories of her and her sister, Jane Allison Schuster, riding their horse Socks to the one-room Matlock School and helping her mother prepare meals for the workers during harvest.
Micki graduated from Washington State University and was a proud sister of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority (as was her sister, and her granddaughter, Kathleen).
She married C. Leon Redmond in 1948 and was the devoted mother of a daughter, LeeAnn, and a son, Bryon Hale. She raised them in the Cherry Crest neighborhood of Bellevue while working as a loan officer at Lincoln Savings and Loan.
In later years, Micki married Jack Saad and retired to the South Hill in Spokane. She was an extensive traveler, seeing among many places - the Great Pyramids of Egypt, the Taj Mahal, the Serengeti of Africa, and the Galapagos Islands. When home she kept busy volunteering, playing golf with friends, and spending summers at Hayden Lake with her family. The summer cabin her mother built remains in the family to this day.
Her proud legacy survives through her daughter LeeAnn, son-in-law Robert, and grandchildren Kathleen Hale and Samuel James Weeks. She is also survived by her niece, Iantha Schuster Sidell, and her nephew, Gregory Allison Schuster, and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack and her beloved son Hale.
No services are planned at this time. Remembrances may be made to Hospice of Spokane to honor their tireless work in guiding families as a loved one departs their life on earth.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.BallandDodd.com for the Saad family.
