Born Mary Catherine Hennen, in Lydia, MN on March 27, 1929, Mary was preceded in death by her parents Arnold & Katherine Hennen. She was the oldest of 4 siblings, including Helen Meuwissen of Chaska, MN, Marvin Hennen (deceased) of Chaska, and Marlys Wenzel (deceased) of Chaska. Mary graduated from Guardian Angels High School in Chaska. In 1952, she married James F. Hagerty of Minneapolis, MN.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Such a great inspiration to all of her family and touched the lives of many others. Her energy and smile would light up a room. Her passion was her family. Two days preceding her death, she attended the wedding of one of her grandsons and was surrounded by her husband, all of her children and grandchildren. The joy of this special occasion was reflected in her ever present smile.
Mary belonged to St. Peters Catholic Church in Spokane. She was actively involved in Alcoholics Anonymous, Meals on Wheels, Southside Newcomers, Southside Senior Center and Teal Ladies. Her "other" hobbies included quilting, bridge, baking and volunteer work. We proudly proclaim she was a friend of Bill W. for 31 years.
Mary is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jim, and 3 children: Debbie Smith (John Ed) of Kennewick, WA, Ann Schnibbe (Dale) of Spokane Valley, WA, and Mark Hagerty (Julie) of Medina, WA, plus her 5 grandchildren: Jason Smith (Wendy), Matthew Smith, Eric Schnibbe (Shannon), Tonya Burnham (Jared) & Jacob Schnibbe and 3 great grandchildren; Tri Star, Kaedon & Mila Smith.
Mary is deeply missed and will truly live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
