Patricia Joan Hayes

Patricia Joan Hayes, of Spokane Valley, WA, gracefully passed away Tuesday evening, November 30, 2010, while surrounded by her loving family. Pat was born in Detroit, MI on January 24, 1931 to Bernard and Helen Burch. She grew up in Illinois, graduating from Kirkland High School in 1948. Pat married James R. Hayes (USMC) on June 3, 1950 in Loves Park, IL. Pat and Jim raised 6 loving children. Pat, who often served as a single parent while Jim served overseas, was selected “Queen for a Day” on November 10th, 1959. Pat loved all living things, especially babies; but most of all she loved her family. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, their children Deborah, Theresa, James, Linda, and Stephen, 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and her sister Bernadyne. She is preceded in death by her daughters Mary and Patty, parents Bernard and Helen, brother Curt, and sisters Shirley and Clara. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to support diabetes education. A memorial service will be held Monday, December 6, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Saint John Vianney Catholic Church, 501 North Walnut Road, Spokane Valley, WA.
