Sylvia spent her early years living in Brant, Alberta and Helena MT before moving to Lincoln MT where she attended school in a one room school house. She moved to Helena for high school and graduated in 1944. She then moved to Spokane to attend business school.
In 1945 Sylvia met Vince Seipp, a young sailor home on leave. They were married at the Bremerton Naval Chapel on April 21, 1947. They lived in San Diego for three years then moved to Bozeman MT where Vince attended Montana State College. The following years found them moving often with Vince’s job. During this time they had five children in eight years, born in three different states and four different towns.
Sylvia loved golfing, bowling, and dancing. She also enjoyed casino outings with family and friends and played her special numbers in the weekly lotteries. She was a seamstress, a wedding cake maker, a party decorator, and a dance party hostess. But more than any of these she was an incredible mom, an amazing fun loving grandmother, and a good friend. She loved her family well. And she loved Jesus with a strong faith.
Travel was another love, both domestic and international. Attending the Kentucky Derby, taking a long RV trip with a friend to their 50th high school reunion, and visiting Hawaii and Alaska on multiple occasions were highlights. Her international adventures took her to Europe, New Zealand, Mexico, Santa Domingo, Puerto Rico, through the Panama Canal, and north to Churchill, Manitoba to spend time with the polar bears. She surprised her family when she took up RV camping in her later years.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband Vince (1993) and son James (2000). She is survived by Vicki Seipp Carney (Jack) Shoreline WA; Debbie Seipp Carney, Spokane Valley; Jerry Seipp (Sherry) Las Vegas NV; Jacqueline Seipp Young (Gary) Rathdrum ID; sister Melva Rude, Helena MT; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Sylvia’s life will be held Saturday, October 23, at 11:00am at the Valley United Methodist Church, 115 N Raymond Rd, Spokane Valley, 99206.
