Verna Rae Rothwell

Verna Rae Rothwell (Patterson) passed away peacefully on January 23, 2017. She was born on October 20, 1929 to Virgil and Erma Patterson in Phillipsburg, Kansas. In the 1930's, to escape the drought, Verna Rae moved west with her parents and brother (Robert Patterson). As a proud “Red Feather” Verna Rae graduated from North Central High School in 1947. Four years later, she married her high school boyfriend Walter Becker. Verna Rae married Elvyn “Jack” Rothwell in 1963. They enjoyed times with family and friends at their lake cabin on Deer Lake and traveling to Reno, Lincoln City, Hawaii and Mexico. After the passing of her husband Jack, Verna Rae resided at Viking Plass and Riverview Terrace.

Verna Rae is survived by her son Robert (Lori) Becker; daughters Jody (Rich) Lentes and Sue (Jim) Orovic; three grandchildren, Lisa Dresler, Mark Becker and Bryan Lentes; and two great grandchildren, Lydia and Kyra Dresler.

A memorial service will be Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11:00 am at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe, Spokane. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to SCRAPS of Spokane.
