

(August 9, 1925 – August 28, 2016)
Born August 9, 1925 in Parker Heights, WA to Benjamin and Julia Grover, Bill grew up in Union Gap, enlisted in the U.S. Navy on November 27, 1943, entered into service on December 4, 1943, graduated Electrician’s Mate school at Farragut, ID (a 16-week school during which time he met his future wife, Evelyn), and served in the Pacific during WWII. He married Evelyn on March 24, 1946, was discharged on May 19, 1946, and settled in Spokane.
After working as a Supply Inspector at Geiger and Fairchild AFB for 34 years and working part-time at Lilac Lanes for a portion of those years, he retired to enjoy family, fishing, hunting, camping and gardening. He was an accomplished handyman and never missed an opportunity to help a friend or neighbor. In his later years, he loved to visit and clown around with his great grandkids.
His family honors him as a loving husband to Evelyn (Tweedy), father to Sheryl Frederic (William) and Debra Grover, grandfather to Mechele Gruhn (Anthony) and Maria Jay (Paul), and great grandfather to Alexis and Dylan Jay. He is predeceased by his brother Matthew and survived by sisters Mary Geiger and Ida Madsen and nieces and nephews.
Bill will be greatly missed by all who loved him and those whose lives he touched.
Visitation will be held at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe, Spokane, WA on Friday, September 2, 2016, 9-10 AM. A graveside service will begin at 11 AM that same day at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, 211 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Hospice of Spokane will be appreciated.
