Bill was born on April 24, 1930, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was the youngest son of Martin and Winnie Verstelle. Bill joined the United States Air Force at the age of 17, served in the Korean War and retired from service at Fairchild ABF after 9 years of service. After leaving the military Bill worked at Boges Bakery for 32 years as a salesman and later the Sales Manager.
In 1949 Bill married the love of his life, Norma Joy Sannes of Spokane, WA and the couple had four children together. They were married for 67 wonderful years and enjoyed an active outdoor and social life with family and friends. Bill volunteered as a VA veterans van driver and was an active member of 4th Memorial Church for many years.
Bill will always be remembered for his love of family, loyalty, diligence in his work and especially his wonderful sense of humor. He loved to tell a good story, some of which have become part of our family legacy.
Bill is survived by his children Carol (Denni), Bill (Julie) and Joyce and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by Norma (wife) and Michael (son).
A Memorial with Military honors celebrating Bill is scheduled for 10:30 am on Monday, June 26, 2023 at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill’s life. Casual dress.
