Bertha Hansen

Bertha Hoecherl was born on October 18, 1918, in Alberta, Canada, to parents John and Francisca Hoecherl. She moved with her family to the United States in 1919, and has resided in Spooner her entire life. On September 11, 1937, she was united in marriage to Sidney Hansen and to this union 4 children were blessed. Bertha enjoyed spending time with her family, especially family reunions, hosting out of town family at her home, and family get togethers. She was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Spooner where she served in the WMF, Sunday School Teacher, and on the Calling Committee. In her spare time, she loved quilting, traveling, and reading.

Bertha is survived by her children: Robert (Mamie) Hansen of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Joann Petry of Scandia, MN, 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces, family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Sidney, daughter June, son Gene, son in laws Tim Petry and Elmer Strand, grandson Terry Petry, and great grandson Aaron Petry.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 25, 2013, at 11 am, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Spooner with Pastor Arvid Sundet officiating. Visitation will be at the Church on Monday from 9- 11 am. Interment will follow at the Spooner Cemetery next to her husband Sidney. Casket bearers will be Ed Draeger, Robert Hansen, Albert Jaloviar, Arnie Hoecherl, Harold Hoecherl, and Ken Hoecherl.
