
Funeral Services for Marian Walker were held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Spooner Wesleyan Church in Spooner with Pastor Adam Dunshee officiating. Visitation was for 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Casket bearers were Matthew Kline, Kenny LeVake, Kiko Murphy, Ryan Murphy, Justin Walker and Lucas Walker. Interment will take place in the spring at the Cemetery of the Pines in Boulder Junction, WI. Memorials are preferred to the Northwoods Baptist Church on Cranberry Rd
Marian Walker, 83, a resident of Madge Township, died on Sunday, January 1, 2012 while in Hospice care at the Spooner Nursing Home.
Marian Evelyn Kassien was born on April 13, 1928 in Boulder Junction, WI to Louis and Evelyn (Weise) Kassien. She has 2 younger sisters, Vivian and Carolyn. Her father worked for the railroad and raised sheep. Her mother was a Chef and owned the Pine Cone Restaurant. Marian played varsity girls basketball at Woodruff High School and briefly attended Leyton School of Art in Milwaukee.
She married Ken Walker of Lake Tomahawk, WI in 1946. He became the foreman of the Woodruff Fish Hatchery. They had 7 children together. Besides being a wife and homemaker, she also helped support the family with the sale of her artwork. The family moved to Spooner, WI in 1970 and maintained a home on Little Devils Lake. Marian’s passions were her God, her family, and her art. Marian was an artist, a volunteer at the Spooner Nursing Home and was involved in numerous Church activities. She attended the Northwoods Baptist Church. She embodied every positive attribute that most people strive to attain. She was wise, beautiful, compassionate, strong, honest, gracious, dignified and kind. She was also very spiritual, she never spoke ill of other people and she was her family’s biggest advocate.
Marian is survived by her children, Wayne (Kim) Walker of Springbrook, WI, Judy Walker Kline of Madison, WI, Mark (Jeanne) Walker of Minocqua, WI, Melody (John Vehrs) Valenti of Boulder Junction, WI, Bill Walker of Hollywood, FL, Sally Walker Levake of Phoenix, AZ, and Rachel (Kiko) Murphy of Spooner, WI.; 10 grandchildren, Kandace, Crystal and April Walker, Matt Kline, Justin and Lucas Walker, Kenny and Lauren LeVake, and Sasha and Ryan Murphy. 2 sisters, Vivian Hunt and Carolyn Thrall; aunt, Dorothy Boudreau and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; and a granddaughter, Amber Walker. She was a prayer warrior for her family and friends. We love her and will miss her very very much. Little by little we will heal until we meet in Heaven.
