

She was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 22, 1940. Bernadette attended and graduated Fort Hamilton High School. She married Gene Nelson of Brooklyn on April 15th and 23rd 1961.
As a homemaker Bernadette brought dignity and class to her profession. How she cared for her loved ones was the definition of a true family leader.
Bernie had a passion for the people in her life. Her family was a major source of her happiness. She loved to share the news of everybody’s accomplishments. Whether it be basketball, horseback riding, ballet or academics, Bernadette loved to share in the joy.
A wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Bernadette is survived by her husband, Gene; daughters, Teresa and June; her son, Buddy; grandchildren, Katie, Courtney, Kelly Anne, John, and Emma. She also leaves behind a sister, Maureen and brother, Joe.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00-8:00pm, Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Merritt Funeral Home - Spring Hill, 4095 Mariner Boulevard, Spring Hill, FL 34609. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am, Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at St. Mary Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church, 18810 US 41, Spring Hill, FL 34610.
