Edith Florence Smith

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest of 68 years, her brother Fredrick “Buddy” Allen, her sister Gertrude “Ruth” Hoelzle and a grandson Corey Michael.

Edith is survived by one sister Mary-Lou Vicchiullo as well as her three sons, Scott and wife Doni-Lynn, Roger and wife Susan, and Tracy and wife Ann. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Amanda Elizabeth, Jessica Marie, Dakota Brian and wife Rebekah, Sean Mathew, and Dale Edward and fiancé Rebecca Carol. Edith also had two great grandchildren, Colby Wayne and Ryleigh Paige and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edith worked for Liberty Products where she met the love of her life, Ernest. They married in October 1953. Shortly after marrying they moved to West Islip Long Island where they lived for 30 years before moving to Spring Hill. While on Long Island both Edith and Ernest were involved with the West Islip Fire Department, Edith was an original member of the Ladies Auxiliary where she was president for many years. After moving to Spring Hill in 1992 Edith had a passion for reading and sewing after retiring from the Hernando County Schools as a cook.

Edith will be interred with her husband at the Florida National Cemetery.
