Eugene L. Matthews, 91, of Weeki Wachee, Florida passed away peacefully at home Friday, December 30, 2016. He was born in Coward, South Carolina to James and Nettie Matthews. Gene served in the US Navy during World War II and he retired from the US Coast Guard after twenty years of devoted service.
He was preceded in death by his best friend and forever loving wife Sybil in 2001.
He is survived by his three children Greg (Ron), Rita and Rudy, five grandchildren Deborah, Michael, Scott, Christopher and Jeff, three great grandchildren Janet Louise, Mia and Jack.
Visitation will be 5-8PM Wednesday, January 4, 2017. Funeral service will be 10:30AM Thursday, January 5, 2017 all located at Turner Funeral Home. Burial will be 12:30PM at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
