Born in Madison, WI, he was a son of the late Leonard J. and Laura Schmitt. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Spring Hill, FL. Prior to his retirement he was a builder of homes in the Spring Hill area. He enjoyed woodworking and playing golf.
He will be deeply missed by his wife: Elizabeth and sons: Paul Schmitt of Hudson, FL and John Schmitt of Oldsmar, FL and daughter: Caryn Schmitt of Costa Rica. He loved his two granddaughters: Sierra and Christina Schmitt.
A Chapel Service will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 11:00 AM from the Turner Funeral Homes Spring Hill Chapel 14360 Spring Hill Drive Spring Hill FL. A visitation will be held Monday morning from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Sylvan Abbey Cemetery, Clearwater, FL Monday afternoon, at 2:00 PM.
