

He was born on January 16, 1932, at Elizabeth General Hospital in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Harry D. and Francis M. O’Neil Alexander.
Jim attended Belvidere High School and graduated with the Class of 1951. Following graduation, he proudly joined the United States Army, serving from 1951 to 1954 while stationed in Panama.
Throughout his life, Jim found joy in driving trucks and buses, and he had a remarkable talent for repairing anything that needed fixing. He also loved camping and spending time outdoors.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Francis; his loving wife of 62½ years, Goldie; his grandson, Torrence Berrios, and his sister, Fay Raub, and her husband, Ralph Raub, of Harmony, NJ.
He is survived by his son, Michael, and wife Charlotte of Jacksonville, Florida; and his grandsons, Dana Young Jr., Lorenzo Young, and Jovan (Nicole) Young, all of Jacksonville.
He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: James (Elizabeth) Tredway of Anderson, SC; James (Michelle) Raub of Harmony, NJ; Greg (Dawna) Lampert of Fincastle, VA; Cindy (Scott) Winters of Harmony, NJ; Michelle (Scott) Ruban of Harmony, NJ; Jason Tredway of Sugar Hill, GA; Jessica (Jason) Williamson of Belton, SC; as well as many other grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Merritt Funeral Home Spring Hill, 4095 Mariner Blvd, Spring Hill, FL 34609 on Thursday, February 12th from 9:30am – 10:30am, followed by funeral service. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s memory to Spring Hill Baptist Church, 3140 Mariner Blvd, Spring Hill, FL 34609.
