James F Bailey

James F. Bailey of Spring Hill, FL, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023, surrounded by family. He was born on November 2, 1932 to Frank and Rosa Bailey in Fairfield, CT. He was educated by the Fairfield school system. James then went on to honorably serve in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Upon completing his service, he worked for Hi-Ho and was a member of the local Teamsters for many years prior to retiring. During this time, he married his first wife, Margaret Garrett (Bailey). Some time after her passing, he was fortunate enough to find someone to spend the next season of his life with. He loved again with his second wife, Lula Jane Pugh (Bailey), whom he affectionately referred to as Lulu. After retiring, they left Connecticut and built a beautiful life together in Spring Hill, where they both remained until they were called home. James enjoyed traveling, bowling, walking, various senior groups and events, and swimming. When visiting his home, you could also always find a puzzle he was in the midst of completing.

James leaves to cherish his memory, his brother Frank (Maryann) Bailey. His children Anita (Robert) Harris, Deidre Simeon, and Kenneth (Samantha) Pugh, as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also, a host of other relatives and friends.

James was preceded by his devoted wife of 27 years, Lula Jane Bailey. His parents Frank and Rosa. Also, his first wife Margaret.

A visitation will be held at Merritt Funeral Home, 4095 Mariner Blvd, Spring Hill FL 34608 on Monday, July 3 at 11am followed by a service at 12pm. Interment will be 2pm at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell FL.
