

James Charles Giovinazzo, 89, of Clearwater, Florida, and Northbrook, Illinois, passed away on July 8, 2015, in Clearwater. He was pre-deceased in July 2012 by his wife of 65 years, Shirley (Bandow) Giovinazzo. Born in Camden, New Jersey and raised in suburban Philadelphia, Jim grew up as one the oldest of 11 children. He is survived by his children: Sally Giovinazzo of Clearwater, Florida; Susan Jennings and Cathy Giovinazzo, both of Indianapolis; Michael (Jennifer) Giovinazzo of St. Paul, Minnesota; and Mary Giovinazzo of Westfield, New Jersey. Jim was also the very proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Meredith (Barrett) Esarey, Jamie Leigh (Rawley) Miller, Taylor (Jena) Jennings, Ella Giovinazzo, Andy Giovinazzo, Connor Brennan, Claire Brennan and one great-grandson, Bowlen Esarey. Jim was a successful businessman who owned Jim’s TV in Northbrook for over 20 years, and The Prairie Schooner restaurant in Cecil, Wisconsin. He was an avid golfer and was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Lion’s Club and VFW. A World War II Veteran, Jim was a radio operator in the Navy and was among the first to land on Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of the War. A proud Veteran, Jim loved his family, country, and President Obama. Visitation will be from 9:00 -11:00 am Monday, July 13, 2015 followed by funeral services at 11:00 am located at Turner Funeral Home.
