Jo Ann was born on November 13, 1938 in Brooksville, Florida, to Van H. and Dorothy R. Peterson. She attended Hernando High School and was a member of the school band where she played the trombone. On August 14, 1958 she married Julius E. Seles in Colquitt County, Georgia. They raised three children.
Jo Ann was a member of the First Baptist Church in Brooksville. Jo Ann had a passion for painting. Her paintings consisted of landscapes and portraits. She enjoyed traveling. Her favorite place to visit were the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. She went on many cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska. Her most meaningful trip was to the Holy Land. Jo Ann loved decorating her home for the fall and Christmas seasons. She loved spending time with her family. She was a beautiful lady and everyone who met her always complimented her on her gorgeous blue eyes.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her father, Van Harold, and her mother, Dorothy, and brother, Van Harold, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Julius E. Seles, Sr., daughter Barbara L. Mulkey (Arthur) and two sons, Martin A. Seles and Julius E. Seles, Jr., grandchildren Darrick and Dustin Seles (Samantha) and great grandchildren Magnolia and Riggs Seles.
There will be a visitation at Turner Funeral Home located at 14360 Spring Hill Dr., Spring Hill, Florida on Thursday, October 31st from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 1st at Florida National Cemetery (also known as Bushnell National Cemetery, U.S. Military Cemetery) located at 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.atz.org).
