

Colonel John Frank Jorgensen was born in Atlantic City, NJ, on August 8, 1940. He grew up in Melrose, MA. He graduated from Norwich University in Northfield, VT, June 9th, 1962 earning a BS in Business Administration and was commissioned a Regular Army (2nd Lieutenant).
Later, he earned a Masters in Management from Central Michigan University. Army highlights were commanding a Tank Battalion for 20 months followed by commanding a Recruiting Battalion for 36 months. Later he commanded a tank heavy brigade for 28 months. Other notable highlights were serving as a Deputy Chief of staff Eighth Army, Korea and Deputy Chief of Staff 3rd U.S. Army. He served two tours in South Vietnam and Desert Storm. After his Army career, he fielded the M1A2 Abrams tank to the Royal Saudi land forces and provided training, serving as the training manager for four years. Following those assignments, he worked as USAR conducting readiness exercises then ended as a trainer for US Army units deploying to the Middle East from 2000 to 2012.
John is predeceased by his parents, his grandson Michael Blaine Davalos (2012), his wife Donna Lee Jorgensen (2018), after 55 years of marriage, and their daughter Lisa Michelle Jorgensen who passed from CHF at only six months old (1969). We know John is at peace and finally reunited with them.
John is survived by his son Erik M. Jorgensen, daughter-in-law Stephanie, grandchildren Noah, Emma, and Easton Jorgensen of Georgia. His granddaughter Deborah James, great grandchildren Jayci and Holden of Louisiana. His sister Suzanne Zimmer-Marx, her husband Ted Marx, and her children Andrew, John, Marina Marx, and Jim & Dan Sempsey.
Celebration of life will be 2PM Saturday, June 1, 2024 located at Turner Funeral Home 14360 Spring Hill Dr. Spring Hill, FL 34609.
