John was born September 1, 1953 in Bay Shore, NY, the son of the late Ernest and Luella(Knight) Kostner.
He married the former Sharon Watson on November 16, 1974.
John served 20 years in the United States Coast Guard. Later he worked for SAFECO Alarm company in Kingston, NY and then he relocated to Brooksville, FL.
John had a passion for hunting, fishing and camping.
John is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sharon. Together they had three children, Jason (Jennifer) Kostner of Saugerties, NY, Michael Kostner of Brooksville FL, and Michele Kostner of Saugerties, NY. He was grandfather to Shealia and Johnathon Kostner.
He is survived by his brother Ernest (Diane) Kostner of Yardley, PA and his sister Patricia Kenehan of Athens, NY.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation and memorial service on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 10 am with service beginning at 10:30 am at Christ Lutheran Church, 475 North Ave W, Brooksville FL.
Those unable to attend may view his service streaming online on the church’s website clcfla.org.
Interment will follow at 12:30 pm at Bushnell National Cemetery.
