John A Thorson

John left this earth on August 15th, 2021 surrounded by his dear friends. Born in Springfield, Illinois. Devoted son of Alden and Nancy Thorson and adored son-in-law of Nick and Corrine Locante.

Married to Celeste for 43 years (College Sweethearts} and blessed with a huge family of friends and relatives throughout the country.

He always had a smile on his face and wanted everyone to be happy. He went out of his way to please family and friends.

He taught the disabled and underprivileged for over 30 years. His students called him Mr. T for his strength and love. He taught math to troubled adolescents in a secured environment and made a difference in their lives.

He valued his friendships and enjoyed fishing, Nascar races in Daytona with his buddies, great music, playing pool and film festivals.

A true sports fanatic and dedicated fan to the Chicago Cubs. He was absolutely thrilled when they won the Worlds Series.

A patient caring man who also loved animals and took great care of his beloved pooches Sugar, Champagne, Dom, Brutus, Buddy and Bella over the years.

Christmas was very special, bringing endless smiles to people of all ages selecting their Christmas Trees at Nicks’. And, many memories follow him as he had the greatest Christmas parties, Easter celebrations and even Blender and Swampwater parties. The annual tradition of a Christmas Brunch with dear friends is unforgettable.

Please always keep him in your thoughts and prayers and someday we will all be together again. Your friendships meant the world to him.

A loving husband more than any one could ask for. He taught me what Love really is.

He was my first, my last, my everything.
