Joseph James Barkett

Joseph James Barkett, 75, passed away Sunday January 25, 2015 in Brooksville Florida. Born in Easton Pennsylvania and raised in Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Joseph and Almosa “Martha” Barkett. Joseph worked as a computer programmer for Rhode Island Hospital Trust Bank, owned and operated Lucky Lemon Lemonade and Statewide Realty, all in Rhode Island. He later worked for JB Hunt prior to his retirement in Florida. Joseph loved to golf and resided at the Highpoint Private Golfing Community in Brooksville Florida at the time of his passing. Joseph is survived by his beloved companion Cecile Abbott; former wife Patricia Barkett; children; daughter GinaMaria Tassinari and husband Steven, son, Joseph Malcolm Barkett, and daughter, Theodora Ann Barkett; siblings; sister, Connie Barkett Peters, brother, Ely Barkett and his wife Peggy; sister in law Lorraine Barkett; grandson Robert James Tassinari; 3 nieces and 5 nephews. Joseph’s brother Antoine Barkett and brother in law David Peters preceded him in death. Joseph was like a father to Cecile’s daughter Kimberly and her husband Bill. Memorial Services will be held in Florida on Saturday January 31st at Highpoint Golf Club, 12251 Club House Road, Brooksville at 1:00 PM. There will be a celebration of life mass in Rhode Island on February 13, 2015 at 10 am at St. George’s Maronite Catholic Church (formerly St. Ann's) 1493 Cranston Street, Cranston, RI - with an inurnment at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, 6365 Post Road, North Kingstown, RI.
