

Josephine Camilla Collins Taylor, of Spring Hill, Florida was born July 31, 1925, to Benjamin Harrison Collins and Willie Mae Collins nee Whitner, in Chicago, Illinois. Josephine, lovingly known as Polly, was a lifelong faithful catholic. Her early education was in Catholic schools and later continued in the Chicago Public Schools. After high school, Josephine began to work for Illinois Bell Telephone Company where she worked her way up to a management position. While working at the telephone company she was a member of the Volunteer Corps, The Pioneers and the Illinois Bell Choir. In December of 1956 Josephine was joined in matrimony to Robert Taylor. After thirty years with Illinois Bell, Josephine and her husband retired and move to Spring Hill. In Spring Hill she spent many happy years as a valued part of the community. Josephine was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul for a number of years. Josephine was multifaceted. She love doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, and fulfilled her secret dream of becoming a Jazz Singer. She was an outgoing, free spirited person who embraced life and gave of herself to the fullest. All who knew her experienced her selfless, kind and loving spirit. Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Taylor and one sibling, Carol Lavonne Williams nee Collins. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved son, Whitney C. McRae, sisters Evalyn Cleggs and Joyce Shepherd of Illinois, and Shirley (William) Horne of Michigan; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and a host of friends and neighbors in Spring Hill and Chicago. She will be remembered and missed for her giving and beautiful spirit. Arrangements under the direction of Turner Funeral Homes Spring Hill Chapel, Spring Hill, FL.
