

Mabel “Mazie” Florence Ferrara, age 79, of Spring Hill, FL., died on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 surrounded by her loving family, at the Hernando Pasco Hospice House in New Port Richey , Fl. Mabel was born in London, England to the late John & Florence (Manze) Samuels, on March 30, 1935. A resident of Spring Hill, Fl. since November 7, 1969, coming from Brooklyn, New York. Mabel moved to New York from her native England at the age of 18. Her father delivered her to the Queen Elizabeth cruise ship, to sail to New York, and he deliberately made her late for the train, and then late for the ship. The ship waited for her, and was late departing for America, and her father went home and cried his eyes out, already missing her terribly. She was sponsored in America by a doctor in New York City, and she was the family’s nanny for a number of years. Mabel met her loving husband while ballroom dancing in NY. Mabel worked for, and retired after many years from both Wal-Mart and K-Mart in Spring Hill, FL, as a Cashier. She was loved by many of her regulars and she was always known for her “Customer Service”. She enjoyed traveling, cruising, dancing, and caring for her grandchildren. Mabel didn’t learn to drive a car until the death of her husband. Mabel was Roman Catholic by faith. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents and then in 1988, her husband, John Ferrara, Sr. She is survived by her loving family, daughter, JoAnn Heitzman and her husband Harold, of New Port Richey, FL., Son, Sheriff Deputy John Ferrara, Jr. and his wife Maria, of Spring Hill, FL., and daughter, Linda Gliotti, of Spring Hill, Fl., also survived by grandson, John “LJ” Ferrara, III, of Spring Hill, grandson, Alex Ferrara, US Army, Fort Bragg, NC., grandson, Luke Ferrara, of Spring Hill, FL., grandson, Matthew Heitzman, of New Port Richey, FL., and granddaughter, Natalie Austin, of Sarasota, FL. Mabel will also be missed by her brother, John Samuels, and her sister, Brenda Fields, along with several nieces and nephews all of England. Family and friends will gather at the Turner Funeral Home, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL., 34609. Monday, October 20, 2014, from 12 –2 PM. A Celebration of Life lead by Mr. Frantz LaFontant will take place in the funeral home at 2 PM. Committal Prayers and burial will follow at the Florida Hills Memorial Gardens, in Spring Hill.
