

Maria T. Dunbar, age 85, of Brooksville, Florida, died at the HPH Hospice Care Center, in Brooksville, FL. Born on October 24, 1931 in Rojau, Czechoslovakia, to Wendeline and Emma (Schwartz) Korn. Maria came to Brooksville in 1994 from Tampa, Fl. where she lived from 1970 – 1994. In 1970, she and her husband George Carl Dunbar moved from Fort Knox, Kentucky after he retired from the US Army. At the age of 14, Maria and her parents left Czechoslovakia to Germany to escape Hitler. In 1960, Maria moved to the USA with George to make a great new life. Maria loved to bake German Torts, Cakes, and Cookies, and to give them to fellow parishioners at church. Maria was Roman Catholic by faith, and a 20 + year member of St. Mary’s, Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, and avidly participated as a Eucharistic Minister, Sacristan, and member of the Alter Guild, serving in any activity the church would allow. For 20 years she would help set up the alter for Holy Mass, funerals, assisting the priest with vestments, and helping in any way possible. Maria was preceded in death by her parents; her husband George Carl Dunbar in 2003, her brother, Anton Korn, sister, Irene Jegg, and son-in-law, Ricky E. Mullins, in September 2016. Maria is loving survived by her daughter, Ingrid Mullins of Brooksville, FL. grandson, Todd (Joanna) Mullins, of Frisco, TX, granddaughter, Melanie (Ryan) Jackson of Spring Hill, FL. and especially by her 8 great grandchildren. Maria’s family and friends will gather at the St. Mary’s, Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 11810 US Highway 41, Masaryktown, FL 34604. The visitation will be held on Monday April 3, 2017, from 4:30 – 7:00PM in the church. A Wake service will be held at 6:30 PM, and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Church on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at 10:30 AM. Fr. Thomas Madden, Pastor will officiate. Committal service will follow the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, at Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell, FL. where Maria will re-join her beloved George. Funeral arrangements and care are entrusted to the Turner Funeral Home, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Masses and Donations may be made to the St. Mary’s, Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Masaryktown, FL.
