

Dan was born on October 16, 1932 in Brooksville, Florida to Lake Theron and Ida Lenora Patrick. Dan attended grade school in Brooksville, where he attended through the 9th grade. Afterwards, Dan dedicated himself to the family farming business in which his family was one of the largest contributors to the Food Industry of the 1940’s in Hernando County. At the age of 18, Dan enlisted in the United States Army and served as a Sergeant until the age of 22.
After serving his country Dan became affiliated with sales in the Life and Health Insurance industry. Dan quickly realized his talents in the business of sales, and became a leading agent for Interstate Life and Accident Insurance Company out of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Interstate Life recognized Dan’s ability for motivating others and promoted him to management over numerous sales agents within his division. In 1970, Dan decided to become a self-employed insurance agency and opened his business back in his beloved hometown of Brooksville, Florida. As an independent, licensed agent for numerous companies, Dan built his office complex on Highway 41 and opened for business as “Dan Patrick and Associates.” Dan worked as an active sales agent in the fields of Life and Health, and Estate Planning until April of 2015. Dan was the recipient of numerous outstanding sales awards in the Life and Health Insurance Industry. Dan was awarded the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table sales recognition award numerous years. In concordance, many other awards were as follows: Interstate Life’s Presidents Club Award; Indianapolis Life’s Century Club Award and The Billboard Award; Jefferson National Life’s Ambassador Award, The Diplomat Club Award, and The Century Club Award; Kentucky Central Life’s Insurance Sales Leader Award. Other special interest awards were as follows: Who’s Who in Society; Strathmore’s Who’s Who; Hernando County of Chamber of Commerce Elite; Republican Senatorial Inner Circle; Florida Sheriff’s Association Bronze Star Recipient; Man of The Year Polk G.A.M.A. Recipient; Commitment to Excellence Award by Vince Lombardi.
Dan’s commitment and love for community and church were evident in his encouragement and support for others. Dan was instrumental in developing churches within the community, such as West Brooksville Church of God and became a charter member at the first documented service. Dan also encouraged and motivated others within the community to begin their entrepreneurial journeys in business.
Dan also had hobbies that included his love of cars and eventually the sale of cars. Dan enjoyed driving to Detroit, Michigan in pursuit and purchase of new cars directly from the factory for friends and family. He owned and operated Patrick Auto Sales on Highway 41. Inherently with the love of farming, Dan still farmed his 20 acre farm off Manecke Road and spent many Saturdays in his stained work clothes, ball cap, and on his tractor or in his truck working the land.
Dan is survived by his wife Frances Parish-Patrick, son Martin Daniel “Danny” Patrick, daughter Darell Patrick (Ollin) Griffith, stepdaughter Cindy Price (Larry) Kinner, daughter Deanna Patrick (Dean) Yardas, son Martin Van Patrick, daughter Meagan Patrick (Brian) Dunn, son Tyler Patrick, brothers Silas Theron Patrick and James Royal Patrick, also 18 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents L. T. and Ida, his sister Elouise Patrick Corbin, brothers Roy Glenwood Patrick, Paul Theron Patrick, Harvard Wayne Patrick, childhood siblings Buddy and Elizabeth, and son Hal Blake Patrick.
