

Michael “Doc” Milligan, age 71, of Spring Hill, FL. died at his home on Sunday, August 6, 2017. A 20+ year resident of Spring Hill coming from Celina, OH. Doc was born on July 1, 1946, in Dayton, OH to the late Charles William & Nellie May (Heiser) Milligan. Doc attended Northmont High Scholl, in Clayton, OH, in the early 1960’s, and he was a member of the football team that went undefeated for the entire season, and 2 years ago the school and that team were inducted into the Northmont Hall Of Fame. A US Navy Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War from Dec. 1965 – Mar. 1969. Doc was a Petty Officer 3rd Class, and his military occupation was a Machinist Mate FN-Fireman. Before coming to Florida, Doc was the owner operator of Milligan Plumbing. Doc enjoyed playing golf, even though he was at first an amputee, and even after losing both legs, he continued he was able to continue playing golf. Doc rode his bicycle across the USA as a fund raising efforts for veteran amputees and for the Wounded Worrier Project. Doc was a longtime member of the AVAST Color Guard, an all amputee veterans group supporting fellow veterans. Doc was a Christian. Doc was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bruce Milligan. Doc is survived by his son, Sean B. Milligan, granddaughter, Cassidy (Shane)Hawk, and great granddaughter, Evy Hawk, all of Brookville, OH, sister, Patricia “Tish” (Monte) Dyke, of West Liberty, OH, brother, Tim (Sharon) Milligan, of Christiansburg, OH. Doc’s family & friends will gather at the Florida National Cemetery, 6504 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513, on Thursday, August 17, 2017, for a Committal Ceremony @ 1 pm with AVAST presenting the US Colors, Mr. David C. Williams to share the eulogy and prayer, and Military Honors will be bestowed by the VFW Post 10209 of Spring Hill, FL. A Reception Gathering is going to be held at the VFW Post #10209, 14736 Edward R Noll Dr. Spring Hill, FL 34609, from 3-6 PM, on Thursday following the funeral services, and all are invited to come and remember DOC. In lieu of flower, memorial donations in Doc’s honor may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
