

Richard “Dick” Volstorff Gielow, age 86, of Spring Hill, FL passed away on Wednesday, November 29th, 2017. He was born on February 4th, 1931 in Elgin, Illinois to the late Harry Gielow and Lilly Volstorff. Dick served our country in the US Air Force during the Korean War and spent a total of 23 years in the military before his retirement in 1973 at MacDill Air Force Base as a Master Sergeant. He furthered his working life as a Financial Advisor for MacDill Federal Credit Union and retired for a second time after 15 years of employment. He moved to the Spring Hill area in 1997 from Clearwater, FL. Dick’s hobbies included fishing, golfing, hunting and traveling. It is said that Dick never met a stranger and only had kind words to say to anyone. He walked through life with a smile and left this world with no regrets. He will be dearly missed but remembered for his dedication and unconditional love. Dick is preceded in death by his twin brother, Robert H. Gielow. Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Patricia Gielow; daughter, Debra (Jack) Parsons of Brandon, FL; son, James (Chin) Gielow of Rocky Mountain, NC; grandchildren, Bret, Eric and Emily; nephew, Robert Gielow; and niece, Josie Schaller. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 7th at 12:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home in Spring Hill, FL. A graveside service will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Memorial contributions in Dick’s name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or a charity of one’s own choosing.
