Bob was retired for the past eleven years from the Hernando County School District where he worked for twenty-two years. While living in Erie, he worked several years for Codan Corporation as a crane operator on the big cargo ships that came into port on Lake Erie. During the winter months he worked for them in their warehouse. His love of the Great Lakes and the history of cargo ships that sunk began there, especially after the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald, a ship that he had unloaded in the past.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert John Wilcox Sr and Honorè J. (Dugan) Wilcox, his sister Gail Ann (Wilcox) Spears and brother-in-law Donald Spears.
He is survived by his wife Colleen; son Robert John (Fran) Wilcox III, grandchildren, Alexander Robert, Lindsey Honorè and Jacob Charles Wilcox of NC; daughter Lori Ann (Gary) Schwenk, grandchild Brandon James Schwenk of MS; sister Judith Lee (Anthony) Szczesny of FL; neice Donni Lynn (Kevin) Buchan, great niece Julielyn (Charles) McCue, great-great niece Cassandra Tara McCue; great nephews Austin James and Cody Thomas Buchan of FL; nephew Thomas (Deann) Spears of TX, great niece Jennifer (Erik) Hauge, great-great nephews Thomas and Ian Hauge of GA; niece Amy (Wayne-deceased) Lovejoy of VA.
Bob was a loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. At his request, no services were held, and his ashes will be scattered in Lake Erie.
