Sam was born on Mary 9, 1947 in Memphis, TN, the son of Edward and Dorothy (West) Martin. He graduated from Southside High School, and served in the United States Marine Corps. He owned and operated his own commercial tire shop.
He married Marilyn Chamness on October 14, 1988. Sam is survived by his loving wife Marilyn, children: Joseph A. “Joey” Martin and wife Katie; Sammy Martin; David Martin; Darrel Martin; Steve Martin; Dakotah Martin; step son: Barry Rooks; 15 Grandchildren: Arybellah Martin; Aryianna Martin; Presley Martin; David Martin, Jr; Atlas Martin; Antonio Fernandez; Heather Pierce, Brittany Halloway, Barry Lee Rooks, III; Alicia Dunkin; Johnathon Rooks; Marcus Rooks; Bradon Rooks; several great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Melodie Janak, Stacie Giles, Kathy Furnish (deceased), Pam Rasey, Michelle Rooks, Chuck Thomas; sister-in-law Barbara Chamness.
A graveside celebration of life for Samuel will be held Friday, April 4, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens, Spring Hill Dr, Spring Hill, FL 34609. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
