Born on August 23, 1945, in Pawtucket, RI, she was the youngest of thirteen children born to the late Arthur and Florida (Ayotte) Desorcy. She spent her childhood growing up on the family farm, learning the values of hard work and close-knit community that would define her life. Following her years on the farm, she began a career as a governess in New York City, nurturing and shaping the lives of children in her care. After decades of dedicated service, she retired and embraced the warmth and sunshine of Florida. She had many passions. She was an exceptional cook, creating delicious meals, especially for gatherings with loved ones. Her creativity showed in her love for crafting; she had a special fondness for classic old movies and found great joy in decorating for the holidays.
Theresa is survived by two sisters, Sr. Jeanette Desorcy of Marlborough, MA, Pauline Del Monico of Pawtucket, RI, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by ten siblings. Theresa’s memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends and all whose lives she touched. Her kindness, intellect and independent spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial mass will be held at a later date.
