

Timothy Haden Spencer, 78, of Brooksville, FL, transitioned from this earthly life to his eternal life in heaven on July 27, 2025. He was a native of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, born October 14, 1946, to the late Thomas Spencer Jr. and Frances Bagley Spencer. He was third of eight children. He graduated from McReynolds High School and then joined the Army in 1965 where he fought and served three tours in the Vietnam War. He continued to serve until 1981 with honorable discharge. He attended Mid America College where he received a certification in Funeral Services. In 1986 he married Arletha Jean Townsend, the love of his life. After leaving the armed forces, Tim worked for the City of Indianapolis as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in 2010. He loved to spend time with family and had a passion for bible study, fishing, yard work, woodworking, and grilling.
He served as neighborhood watch block captain for many years and received recognition as 2014 Crime Fighter of the Year. He was a member of Mt. Zion Apostolic Church under the pastorate of Presiding Bishop Lambert W. Gates Sr. for eleven years. There, he graduated from Logos Bible College with a degree in Theological Studies in 2007. He and his wife moved from Indianapolis to Brooksville, Florida in 2016 where he was appointed and served as a deacon at Calvary Apostolic Faith Church under the pastorate of Bishop Fred Porter for eight years. In 2019 he passed the PCAFI ministers' course and received a local ministerial license to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ. He preached his first sermon on August 25, 2019. He and his wife moved membership to Tampa Revival Center, in 2023 under the pastorate of Billy E. Chatman Jr. where he served as a minister and head of the food pantry ministry until his death.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wendell, Roland, Taylor, and Thomas and sister Julia and his first wife Charlina Harris Spencer. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of more than 38 years Arletha Jean Spencer, his daughters LaShawn Burke and LaCoyla Spencer, and son Leon Spencer, granddaughters Charlina, LaQuisha, Brittany, Amanda, and Cagney, and 15 great-grandchildren, his sister Christina ‘Tina’ Spencer, and brother Jimmy Davis, also his brothers/sisters in-law Janice, Adrienne, Kenneth, Michael, Gary Townsend and Cynthia Wilson all of Indianapolis IN, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and church family.
A visitation for Timothy will be held Friday, August 8, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Turner Funeral Homes, Crematory and Cemetery, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609, followed by a service from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM.
