A native Rocklander, Geri was born to Sam and Elsa Schack of Spring Valley, New York on June 18, 1928.
As a young lady she graduated Spring Valley High School, a truly gifted artist; talented, skilled and imaginative. A beautiful woman of intellect, style and grace. Geri joined the work force where soon after she met her future husband, Gene Levy.
They were married for nearly 40 years, living in Suffern, New York with their children William and Felicia.
Gene Levy was to become a Town of Ramapo Councilman, then a Rockland County Assemblyman and finally a New York State Senator. For all those years and beyond, Geri stood by his side as wife and counsel. Together they would consider the tough issues of the day, and how those decisions could best serve the men, women and children of their community and state. Gene and Geri, a legacy of citizenship and responsibility in the name of G-d and Country.
Geri could be many things, a caring friend, neighborhood mom, art teacher or with her husband; reaching out a compassionate helping hand to all people in search of a better life.
At home, we looked up to Mom, the heart of our family. She was loving & devoted. She lit up our lives, Mom was inspiring, capable, brave, virtuous, but above all, what came shining through was her goodness.
When Gene passed away, Geri was there to comfort one and all; friends, colleagues and the community at large. Later with a quiet courage, she stood in as Gene received tributes, declarations and posthumous recognition for his work and humanitarian efforts.
Geraldine Levy had a long and fruitful life, a life well lived. We will miss her forever, farewell, our best friend.
G-d bless you and keep you. Rest in peace…our love for you is eternal.
