Dr. Louis Hirsch Lefkowitz MD

It is with profound sadness we mourn the passing of Dr. Louis H Lefkowitz. Beloved husband of Patricia S Lefkowitz, father of Andrew P Lefkowitz (Gwen), grandfather of Alexandra F. Lefkowitz and Benjamin I. Lefkowitz. Brother of Herbert Lefkowitz (Ann), Barry Lefkowitz (deceased) and Karen Adler (deceased). He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1959 and received his MD from New York Medical College in 1964. Completed his residency in OB/GYN at Flower & Fifth Avenue Hospital and Metropolitan Hospital in New York City. He served as a physician in the US Army from 1969-1972. He served as Director of the OB/GYN Department and Co-Chairman of the Peri-Natal Committee at Good Samaritan Hospital and was a Board Member of the Coalition for Care. Praised and admired by his patients and colleagues as a kind, caring & compassionate physician serving Rockland County for 40 years.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 12, 2023, 11:00 AM at Congregation Shir Shalom 411 S. Little Tor Road, New City, NY 10956. Interment will follow at Congregation Sons of Israel Cemetery, Route 306 & Brick Church Road. Memorial contributions should be made in Dr. Lefkowitz’s memory to the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation, Suffern, NY or a Charity of One’s Choice.
