Robert Joseph Wechman was born on September 23, 1939 in Bronx, N.Y. and passed away unexpectedly after a short battle with Coronavirus on January 3, 2021. He remains under the care of Hellman Memorial Chapels.
Though his friends and family were unable to say good-bye, the memories of Robert's great stories and sense of humor will live on. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the City University of New York and a Master's degree from Columbia University. He also received a doctorate from Syracuse University and was a dedicated professor of history, economics, and business management at various universities in the tri-state area. Most recently, he taught at Lehman College up until his retirement a few years ago.
Robert loved higher education and wrote several business books that can be found in over a hundred university libraries across the nation. He always made room for his students to learn and had a knack for breaking down complex economic concepts into simple terms.
In his spare time, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life such as going out for ice cream with his wife and watching his beloved New York Yankees with his three sons. He leaves behind his wife, Stephanie Wechman, whom he always acknowledged was the love of his life. He is also survived by his sons, Craig, Evan, and Darren who adored his unique and loving sense of humor. He was a sweet and compassionate man who made everybody around him laugh, up until his final days. Robert's face always lit up when retelling his fond memories of his time in the U.S. army and reserves during Vietnam where he was honorably discharged.
He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Dylan and Lauren, his daughter in law, Carrie, as well as his devoted sister, Sheila.
