We announce, with great sadness, the passing of Rose Ginsberg, z’’l, widow of Joseph Ginsberg, z’’l, and mother of Stanley (Sylvia), Alfred (Benita) and Paul (Idit) Ginsberg. Rose was born in the year women won the right to vote. In her nearly 102 years of life, she lived through the Great Depression, World War Two, the economic boom times of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, and the massive social, economic and technological transformation of the past 50 years. Through it all, she maintained a steadfast devotion to her family, who remained at the center of her life until the Angel of Death carried her away to join her parents, husband, brother Eli Cohen z’’l and grandson, Peter Ginsberg z’’l, who left us too soon. To those who knew her, she was strong, generous, stubborn, opinionated and ever appreciative of a good joke. We will miss her.
In addition to her sons and daughters-in-law, Rose is survived by grandsons Seth (Rebecca), Oren (Trista) and Assaf Ginsberg and grandson by marriage Arthur (Jennifer) Fleishman; granddaughters Rachel Ginsberg, Tuval (Yiftach) Shay, and Niva Ginsberg and granddaughter by marriage Rebecca Fleishman; and great-grandchildren Yotam, Tamar and Matan Shay and Wesley Ginsberg; and great-granddaughters by marriage Hailey, Abigail and Erica Fleishman.
Rose’s funeral will take place at United Hebrew Cemetery, Staten Island, NY, on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 1:00pm.
For those wishing to honor her memory, the family requests that donations be made to any charity supporting the victims of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hellman Memorial Chapels, 15 State Street, Spring Valley, NY 10977 (845)356-8600 Jewish Funeral Directors.
